REF 01: THE LITTLE BIG SUMMER CLUB 2010

During the summer school of 2010, the children have been able to enjoy a number of activities which have been set out for them every week.  The themes each week vary and Curtain Raiser try to keep the activities as exciting and interesting as possible.

The children have been able to be as creative and imaginative as they wish during these sessions, and some of the younger children were also able to experience all of this with one of their parents or a guardian.  Being summer time and very hot, the children were able to enjoy a number of wet activities and being fully kitted out with their swimming costumes, sun block and sun hat, they were able to enjoy these wet activities without any harm.
The children also worked very closely with puppets and using them for story telling, as well as making masks of different popular characters which are often watched on TV.  By using recyclable materials which one can easily find at home, such as butter tubs and cereal boxes amongst others, the children were then able to create a number of objects, such as a mini fire engine, making  colourful flower gardens and picture frames and even extra large flowers.

Being situated at Buskett Roadhouse Gardens, the children are able to experience both the outdoors and indoors at the same time, and having such a beautiful surrounding, Curtain Raiser has this year encouraged the children to make the most of it.  Apart from the occasional picnic within the Buskett forest itself, the children also experienced the fun of going on Nature Trails and appreciating what nature has to offer.  Also the children were asked to collect leaves, twigs and anything else found on the ground in order to create a nature collage.

Apart from all of this, the children have also been able to enjoy sessions with music, singing and movement and not forgetting also a lot and lot of fun and interactive games which include, only to mention a few, dressing up games, water bombs, treasure hunts, and drama games.

A big thank you also goes to PLAN toys, who as part of their sponsorship supplied our summer school with some eco-friendly toys, which the children have really enjoyed playing with and also another big thank you goes to the characters who paid the children a visit at the Curtain Raiser summer school.
